Fresh powder envy: 1950s helicopter skiing!

Seeing as we usually bring you the latest and greatest action and outdoor videos from around the web, this week we’ve decided to switch it up and take a journey back in time.  Don’t worry, this week’s video is still remarkable, it just happens to be from the 1950s.

Long before the creation of chairlifts, skiers had to either hike up the mountains or use helicopters.  This vintage ski footage captures helicopter skiing at Mt Alyeska, Alaska before the mountain was developed as a ski resort.  Here at SportPursuit, we can’t help but feel a little envious of the deep powder, blue skies, absence of lifts and a sight to behold – no tracks.  If you love your snowsports, this is the video for you!

If you’re felling in the mood for booking a ski holiday after watching that vid, we don’t blame you. If you’re looking for great ski kit at unbeatable prices, stop by the SportPursuit Ski Store today!
