If you weren’t following Fat Bear Week, you should have been. As the bears of Alaska’s Katmai National Park stock up on calories before hibernation the world watches, connecting to nature and the outdoors in that fun moment. Vox has a great feature on the week here. GearJunkie gave us a brilliant insight this week on how Cape Town Marathon has been making innovative changes to the event to aim for the “Greenest Marathon on Earth“.

Nothing gets us as excited for the winter season as a great ski video, and it takes imagination and a healthy dose of skill to create something as original as pro skier Nicolas Vuignier. Outside Magazine‘s Outside Beyond Book Club podcast is a great selection of the highlights of literature covering the great outdoors, adventure and all of the issues that are inextricably linked to these things. We’re big fans – check out the episode with Kate Harris on her memoir, ‘Lands of Lost Borders: A Journey on the Silk Road.’
Gear
Discovering new kit is one of our favourite parts of the week, and we love the chance to share them with other people. It gives us a chance to spread the word about some really cool innovations, exciting new brands, and products that we just couldn’t live without. This week we’re loving 2XU compression – effective performance apparel for running, cycling and training with anatomically-mapped muscle support.
